We’ll have one rooting interest in tomorrow’s UFC card from Anaheim, but it won’t be Alexander Volkanovski or Ilia Topuria.  While they battle for the UFC featherweight title, we will be focused on supporting the live English pay-per-view coverage of the event that will be delivered throughout Canada via Sportsnet+.

Sportsnet+, Canada’s premier sports streaming service, is delivering at least 12 pay-per-view events this year as part of a broader agreement with UFC. Sportsnet has made it clear that the UFC package is an essential element in its strategy to deliver high quality events to passionate fans year round.

Here’s where we fit in: Sportsnet is offering these PPV events using the same cloud-based, open-architected platform – our Quickplay platform – that it’s used to deliver thousands of live sports events, including NHL, NBA, and MLB matchups. The flexibility, agility and scalability that made us Sportsnet’s go-to partner in 2021 is continuing to drive fulfillment of new customer opportunities three years later.

Over the past three years we’ve revelled in the ability of customers like MSG Networks’ MSG+, YES Network, India’s aha, the Philippines’ Smart and Cignal TV, and others to use our platform to bring new ideas to life. It was only last month that we announced that Cogeco Media is leveraging our capabilities to accelerate its audio transformation.

Sportsnet is the latest to break new ground – leveraging the platform’s direct-to-consumer commerce capabilities to promote, transact, and deliver these pay-per-view events. Sportsnet’s integrated marketing campaign includes a QR code that is overlaid on-screen during UFC programming leading up to the event, including the prelims which are available to Sportsnet+ subscribers before the evening’s main PPV fights.

We can’t speak for Volkanovski or Topuria, but from where we sit the best finish tomorrow night will be this: a flawless effort from our platform that gives combat sports fans across Canada a winning experience.
